Political crisis in Ukraine can influence opinion for Dutch referendum
The Ukraine-EU Association Agreement has no relation to the present political crisis in Ukraine, however, a negative picture may influence on the attitude of the Dutch during the referendum, Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski has said.
"I hope people in the Netherlands understand essence and aim of the association, and that it doesn't relate to the current political situation in Ukraine, but this is a tool of how to help Ukraine and to overcome crisis," the diplomat told the Interfax-Ukraine in Kyiv on Monday.
According to him, a part of the responsibility for the overcome of the referendum in the Netherlands also put on the Ukrainian government since the political crisis, which within last several months has been paralyzing the parliament's and government's work, "won't demonstrate a better picture in Ukraine, and one should bear it in mind."
The referendum on the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement will be held in the Netherlands on April 6. The results of the referendum will be consultative in nature.
