Russia blames Ukraine for alleged WTO violations in gas sector shakeup
Russia attempts to accuse Ukraine at the World Trade Organization's Council for Trade in Services on March 18 of reforming its gas transportation system in violation of WTO agreements to facilitate and ensure market access, the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry's press service has stated. .
"The consideration of the issue continued with a statement by Ukraine that the said reform is aimed at a comprehensive adaptation of the country's gas sector to the legislation of the European Union and the Energy Community… The Ukrainian delegates presented a report to draw WTO members' attention to the transparency of Ukraine's position and readiness to provide the feedback and comments on the regulation of the natural gas market," the press service said.
No one of the WTO member states supported Russia's position, the ministry said.
