DTEK's thermal power plants post billions of hryvnias in loss in 2015
DTEK energy holding's thermal power plants posted billions of hryvnias in loss in 2015, DTEK CEO Maxim Timchenko said at Adam Smith Conferences' Ukrainian Energy Forum in Kyiv on Tuesday.
"It is difficult to build a long-term investment strategy when the thermal generation tariff in 2015 caused losses estimated at billions of hryvnias," he said.
Timchenko says that clear rules of the game should be created in the formation of prices of coal and power rates.
"We need clear rules of the game, because this is the business and the sector where ROI is estimated in years, not months," he said.
In his words, the regulator is currently considering prices of coal that would take into account stock indexes of it.
"We have got the stock indexes of coal – they could be used as the basis for objective price formation, as coal is the main component of the power rate," Timchenko added.
