Ukrainian PM Yatseniuk again urges Russia to join $3 bln debt restructuring plan on common terms - Yatseniuk
If Russia sues Ukraine regarding a $3 billion debt, Kyiv is ready to litigate, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said.
"If Russia goes to court to file a motion against Russia, we are ready to litigate with Russia, we are fully armed," Yatseniuk said at a government meeting on Wednesday evening.
The prime minister pointed out that Ukraine has invited all of Kyiv's foreign creditors to restructure its debts. "All sensible international creditors accepted Ukraine's proposal. Our proposal to the others who have not accepted our restructuring plan remains on the table," he said.
"I stress, once again, that Russia cannot, and will not, get different restructuring terms and conditions than those the other creditors have gotten," he said.
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin had instructed Finance Minister Anton Siluanov to take legal action against Ukraine over the latter's refusal to repay the $3 billion debt. "Well, okay, go to court," Putin said at a conference with government members after hearing the finance minister's report on the situation surrounding the Ukrainian debt's repayment.
