Ukraine hopes to receive U.S. military assistance worth $300 mln in 2015 - Poroshenko
The United States has provided Ukraine with military and security assistance in the amount of $265 million in 2015, and in 2016 the United States could provide $300 million, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said.
"In the past two years the sum of military and security assistance from the United States totaled $265 million… The provision of assistance will continue next year. The draft U.S. Defense Budget 2016 foresees $300 million in assistance for Ukraine," the president said in Lviv during a ceremony to receive U.S. radar stations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Saturday.
He said that this is a large sum as Ukraine's 2016 defense budget will not exceed UAH 100 billion.
