Ukrainian govt opposes return of special pensions – Yatseniuk
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has sent its official representatives to a sitting of the Constitutional Court regarding the return of special pensions, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"The Constitutional Court of Ukraine accepted another case: the case on returning special pensions for judges, prosecutors and other so-called special pensioners. If the Constitutional Court decided to revoke the single approach to accruing pensions, this would be an injustice towards millions of Ukrainians who do not have special status, who worked for the state, who are to receive their pensions in the same ratio, the same formula as those who want to return the status of special pensioners," he said at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
"For 20 years we’ve been fighting with the fact that Ukraine is more equal or less equal, to introduce the principle of social justice in accruing pensions in Ukraine. Attempts to break this principle are an attack on the rights and freedoms of millions of Ukrainians," Yatseniuk said.
