Ukraine interested in cooperation with Australia on diversifying nuclear fuel supplies
Ukraine is interested in cooperation with Australia on diversifying nuclear fuel supplies, the press service of the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry has reported, with reference to Deputy Minister Ihor Martynenkov.
"We are certainly interested in diversification of supplies because Ukraine is 40-45% provided with its own nuclear fuel. From this position, Australia for Ukraine is a strategic partner, as Australia is now number one in the world in terms of uranium reserves," he said during bilateral consultations on September 7-8.
According to the report, Ukraine and Australia plan to negotiate on the issue and sign an intergovernmental agreement on nuclear energy and electricity generation.
