Putin orders talks held with Ukraine on gas transit after 2019; terms don't suit Gazprom
President Vladimir Putin has instructed that talks be held with Ukraine on gas transit after 2019, Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said at a press conference at the close of the gas giant's AGM.
Gazprom is not rejecting the talks, Miller said, but the terms of Ukrainian gas transit do not suit.
"We will never sign a contract on unprofitable, unfair, unacceptable terms for us," he said.
Naftogaz Ukrainy wants to raise the rate on gas transit to $5 per 1,000 cubic meters per 100 kilometers, up from $2.7 currently, he said.
