Military confrontation in Eastern Ukraine costs state coffers $5-7 mln a day – Finance Minister
The daily spending on military confrontations in eastern Ukraine is around $5 million to $7 million, Ukrainian Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko said in a Wednesday interview with Ukraine Today TV channel.
Asked how much the war costs a day she said that earlier the sum was around $10 million, however, the devaluation of the hryvnia reduced it to $5 million to $7 million.
The minister said that on the whole 5% of the GDP has been assigned from the 2015 Ukrainian budget for national defense and law enforcement. "This is more than ever in the history of independent Ukraine," she stressed.
