Five telecom operators ask parliament to reject bill obliging operators to disconnect 'grey' phones
Telecommunications operators Astelit LLC, Kyivstar, PrJSC MTS Ukraine, TriMob LLC and PJSC Ukrtelecom have asked lawmakers to reject a draft law, which among other things obliges operators to disconnect "grey" phones.
"Leading fixed and mobile communications operators see not only a threat to their commercial operation in draft law No. 1888, but also basic constitutional rights of citizens. According to our opinion, the initiative of the regulator has nothing in common with real fight against smuggled goods or deregulation of the mobile communications market. We hope that MPs would reject the bill and send it to revision with the obligatory attraction of market players," reads the letter.
As reported, draft law No. 1888 on the protection of telecommunications service consumers and improving state regulation of the use of the radio frequency spectrum (the author is Oleksandr Danchenko, Samopomich) was registered in the Ukrainian parliament on January 29, 2015.
