Ukrainian companies boost imports of goods to Crimea special economic zone by 59% in Feb

Imports of goods to the Crimea special economic zone from the rest of Ukraine came to $96.63 million in January-February 2015, the State Statistics Service has reported, and supplies in February grew by 59% on January, to $59.27 million.

According to the report, in January-February 2015 goods worth $4.04 million were exported from the Crimea special economic zone to the rest of Ukraine compared to $1.77 million in January and supplies in February grew by 28%.

Over the first two months of 2015 imports of goods to the zone were 26.1 times higher than exports, while in January 2015 it was 21 times more.

As reported, the State Statistics Service has begun publishing data on the movement of goods between the Crimea free economic zone and the rest of Ukraine.

The service said that according to the law on the creation of the Crimea free economic zone and the peculiarities of economic activity in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, dated August 12 last year, goods moving across the administrative border of the Crimea free economic zone from January 1, 2015 are subject to customs procedures.
