Vega has no control over its equipment in Sevastopol - statement

Vega telecommunications group lost access to its infrastructure in Sevastopol on February 10, the group said in a statement.

According to the report, unknown persons at 1300 on February 10 "with the support of the police gained operational control and management of the office, the warehouse and the nodal area of the Crimean branch of Vega telecoms group in Sevastopol."

The company said the unknown persons explained their presence was due to a decision made by the governor of Sevastopol.

"As of 1800 (February 10), the operator's monitoring systems in Kyiv stated the loss of access to telecommunications infrastructure in Sevastopol, as well as operational controls over technical equipment in the city," reads the report.

The operator believes what happened was illegal encroachment on private property.

Before the incident took place it was reported that unknown people in military uniform were in Vega’s Sevastopol office.
