Finance ministry says hryvnia could move to UAH 10.50/$1 in 2014
The average annual hryvnia exchange to the U.S. dollar could become UAH 10.50/$1 by the end of 2014, Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Shlapak told journalists in Kyiv last week.
"We take into account our figure. We're sure that there are no grounds for sharp growth in the dollar exchange rate now. When we receive the first tranche [of the credit] from the IMF and we have a serious partner who will backs our solvency … I'm sure that we'll have enough funds to create a financial cushion and keep the dollar at UAH 10.50 by the end of the year," Shlapak said.
