Ukrzaliznytsia studying introduction of e-tickets in international trains
State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia is studying the possibility of introducing electronic train tickets for international routes, Ukrzaliznytsia Deputy Chief Pavlo Chekalov has said at a press conference in Kyiv.
"We are in talks, in particular, with the railway administrations of Belarus, Russia, Moldova, but today we are testing the technology on internal routes. We are working, but most our trains run in Ukraine, therefore we want to develop the technology in our trains, simultaneously working with our colleagues to introduce such tickets on international routes in the future," he said.
As reported, electronic railway tickets in Ukraine from July 23 gained the status of a settlement document (fiscal receipt), which is stipulated in the joint order of the Infrastructure Ministry and the Income and Tax Ministry on approving the procedure of formalizing reporting documents when selling travel and transportation documents on railways, which came into force on July 9, 2013.
