Harvest could fall by 10-15% due to bad weather, says premier

Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has ordered the Agricultural Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine to check on agricultural work every day, as the present unfavorable weather conditions at the end of March and early April could result in a fall in the yield of crops by 10-15%.

"The more and more frequent unfavorable weather conditions create risks to our agriculture. Bad weather could result in a fall of the yield by 10-15%," he said, opening a cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The premier said that agricultural companies in Vinnytsia, Volyn and Rivne regions are in the zone of increased risk.

"The main spring work will start later, so the speed of the work is of great importance – we'll have to use not each day, but each hour," the premier said.
