Russian attack knocks out power in Kyiv and 4 regions - Ukrenergo
On Tuesday night and in the morning, the Russian Federation carried out a massive missile and drone attack on several regions of Ukraine, as a result of which a significant number of consumers were without electricity in Kyiv, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Vinnytsia and Odessa regions as of this morning, NPC Ukrenergo has said.
According to its message on the Telegram channel, energy facilities in several regions were also damaged, and emergency power outages were forced to be applied in some regions, which will be canceled immediately after the situation in the power system stabilizes.
According to First Deputy Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov, Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Chernihiv, Odesa, Donetsk and Sumy regions were under attack today.
As Ukrenergo specified, due to a significant number of consumers without electricity, electricity consumption significantly decreased: as of 9:30 a.m., its level was 7.9% lower than at the same time on Monday.
But in all regions of Ukraine there is still a need for economical energy consumption, it is better to postpone energy-intensive processes to the night - after 23:00.
Due to difficult weather conditions (ice and icing of power lines), 68 settlements in three regions were completely or partially de-energized in the morning: Odessa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.
"Repair teams of the regional energy companies are working to restore the damaged lines," - noted "Ukrenergo".
As reported, Russian aggressors once again attacked energy facilities in the Odesa region and the DTEK thermal power plant, they suffered significant damage.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the Russian Federation attacked with several types of ballistics and cruise missiles, as well as drones, high-rise buildings and power plants, which operated exclusively in the heating mode of districts in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipro. As a result, hundreds of thousands of families were deliberately left without heat, the agency stressed.
On February 3, the Russian Armed Forces shelled Kharkiv for more than three hours, inflicting targeted strikes on energy infrastructure, said the city's mayor, Igor Terekhov. He noted that the city authorities will have to make difficult decisions, including draining the coolant in the heating system of 820 houses.
