The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the list of work on the construction, reconstruction and overhaul of sports facilities and organizational measures for 2013 worth a total of UAH 200 million as part of preparations for holding the final tournament of the EuroBasket 2015 European Basketball Championship in Ukraine.

According to government resolution No. 161-r of March 11, 2013, most of the funds (UAH 72.4 million) will be spent on the design and reconstruction of the building of the Meteor sporting palace in Dnipropetrovsk, as well as on the designing and overhaul of the second stage of the Sports Palace in Kyiv (UAH 70 million).

A total of UAH 16.9 million will be allocated for the design and construction of training centers, of which UAH 500,000 will be spent on preparatory work each in Kyiv, Donetsk, Odesa, Lviv and Kharkiv regions, and UAH 14.4 million on preparatory work in Dnipropetrovsk region.

A total of UAH 40.7 million will be allocated for the design and construction of training facilities for the preparation of the national basketball team in Kyiv and Kyiv region, Lviv region and Crimea.

As reported, on December 18, 2011 Ukraine received the right to host the European Basketball Championship in 2015. Ukraine proposed hosting the championship in its largest cities, including Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Lviv, Kharkiv and Ivano-Frankivsk.
