The Basketball Federation of Ukraine has appealed to President of the Basketball Federation of Poland Grzegorz Bachanski with a proposal to submit a joint bid for holding the 2019 European Women Basketball Championship.

According to the press service of the Basketball Federation of Ukraine, the FIBA International Basketball Federation FIBA sent a letter to all European national federations that informs on the launch of preparation for the EuroBasket 2019 among women's national teams. In particular, in November-December 2016 the FIBA will consider applications from the national federations of countries, which wish to act as the organizers or co-organizers of the tournament.

The Ukrainian federation noted that Ukraine was chosen to host EuroBasket 2015 among men's teams, but after the Revolution of Dignity and the outbreak of war in Donbas the FIBA changed its decision based on a lack of security guarantees for the teams participating in the championship.
