Russia currently has only six licenses to participate in Olympic Games in Paris – Gutzeit

President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) Vadym Gutzeit says that today Russia has only six licenses to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris (France).

"To date, Russians have only six licenses for the Olympic Games. Of course, the licensing competitions will continue this year, and they have the opportunity to participate and fight for licenses," Gutzeit said on the air of the national telethon on Wednesday.

At the same time, according to him, Russians periodically refuse to participate in competitions, due to the fact that they do not want to perform without state symbols, as neutral athletes, and some of them are not allowed to compete due to non-compliance with the criteria of neutrality.

"I see that several more athletes from Russia will be able to get licenses," he added.

Gutzeit noted that approximately 300-350 athletes represented Russia at the previous Olympics. "Today I see 30, maximum 40 athletes who can get licenses," he stressed.

Among other things, the head of the NOC of Ukraine admitted that the Russian Federation may refuse to participate in the Olympics in Paris at all.
