Kyivmiskbud Holding has not started the construction of new projects since early 2014, and the company has focused on the completion of the projects started, Kyivmiskbud Holding President Ihor Kushnir has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"We have not started the construction of new projects since early this year. We should focus our efforts on the timely commissioning of projects that have been started, as we cannot let investors down," he said.

He said that the construction of new projects would start when new houses are commissioned.

"We've slightly adjusted the plans on construction work at some sites this month. However, as a whole, the situation [in the country] should not considerably affect the general pace of construction," he said.

Kushnir added that the housing commissioning plan for 2014 has not been revised, and the pace of work is rather high at all sites. The issue of the full stoppage of projects, the realization of which has been started, is not on the agenda.

The likely risk for the construction sector and for Kyivmiskbud is the loss of trust of investors in the conditions of the complicated situation in the country, Kushnir said.

"The risk could be only one: people will stop trusting the company and nothing will be to invest in newly built projects. This could result in the slowdown on the property market. The tense economic situation in 2008 showed that in any times the most reliable investment was square meters of apartments," Kushnir said.

"The fright of the public lasted for only a week or two. We also started thinking what to do. First we decided not to start new projects and focus on those that we are working on. We have around fifty of them. However, I could say that today the situation has been balanced. People come, and come very actively, while we're building," he added.

The holding president said that the currency exchange rate is not the fundamental element in the formation of the price of Kyivmiskbud's property.

"We are a Ukrainian construction company and we're working in the hryvnia, not the U.S. dollar. We sell apartments in hryvnias, and the currency exchange rate is not a fundamental element in the formation of the price of property. Of course, we use imported materials, but their volume does not affect the formation of the price. The only condition of the revision of the price of property could be installments. When people buy property in installments, the unpaid sum is not fixed and it could be revised. This is linked to the natural fluctuations on the property market," Kushnir said.
