Yuschenko's memoirs to go on sale in March - media

A book of memoirs by third Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko (2005-2010), "Non-State Secrets," will be released by the Folio publishing house and will be available for sale in early March 2014, the Vesti newspaper reported on Friday.

"This is a large-format book. It contains 500 pages, plus 64 pages of photos. The circulation is 3,000 copies. An exact price has yet to be set, but an approximate price is UAH 100-150," Folio Director General Oleksandr Krasovytsky said.

He said that in the memoirs there are a lot of memories of the former head of state about his family and childhood.

"Viktor Yuschenko, for example, remembers how he was sent to the store for bread, which was brought once a week. There was a crowd, he dropped the bread, and people trampled it," Krasovytsky said.

He said that another tragic memory was about Yuschenko's father who was a teacher and went to work in western Ukraine, where he was considered as an NKVD agent and at home he was regarded as a recruited Bandera activist.

In his book, the former president writes about how he was poisoned at the villa of former SBU Deputy Chief Volodymyr Satsiuk: "There were salads on the table. Then they served hot dishes and the ill-fated pilaff (but it was served in portions). Perhaps poison was in the pilaff."

Yuschenko said he knew the suspects: "But they are executors. And they are all now out of Ukrainian jurisdiction. Journalists have repeatedly asked me whether I know who had poisoned me. Yes, I know. And he knows that I know him."

The ex-president also remembered the failed agreement between incumbent President Viktor Yanukovych and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko: "There was an idea to bribe Yanukovych with his election as president in parliament so that he could be the president for ten years and she could be the prime minister. But their mutual distrust was the key to stopping this scenario."

Yuschenko's memoirs have not yet been presented.

The ex-president will turn 60 on February 23.
