Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has said that the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union could be postponed if Kyiv does not fulfill all conditions set out by the European Union before the Eastern Partnership summit, Polish media have reported.

"There is an alternative that we will also sign [the Association Agreement] with Ukraine next year," he said, adding that at the summit in Vilnius it is planned to initial the agreements with Georgia and Moldova, which are to be signed next year.

Sikorski said that the fulfillment of the EU's condition on the release of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko currently "remains in question" and called on the Ukrainian authorities not to waste time.

"I would ask the Ukrainian authorities not to waste time and do what needs to be done," he said.

Sikorski added that Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych "shouldn't get confused and combine something, but he should only do what needs to be done in cooperation with the Cox-Kwasniewski mission [the European Parliament's monitoring mission of Aleksander Kwasniewski and Pat Cox]."

He said that the failure to sign the Association Agreement with Ukraine in Vilnius "would compromise those who promised [it would be signed]."
