Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski has called on the Ukrainian authorities to speed up to the fulfillment of the conditions necessary to sign Association Agreement with EU.

Brussels is concerned that Ukraine could be late, since the European Union must assess Kyiv;s progress by the end of summer, Sikorski told journalists in Luxemburg on Monday after a meeting of the EU Council on Foreign Relations, at which the situation in the countries of Eastern Partnership was discussed.

"As I said in the morning, we're concerned that Ukraine could be late with fulfilling the conditions on which the signing of Association Agreement depends. The matter concerns the Election Code, the law on the public prosecutor's office, and selective justice. I'm calling on the Ukrainian authorities to hurry up," Sikorski said.

The Polish minister noted that over month ago he was in Kyiv with his colleagues from Lithuania, the Netherlands and Denmark.

"Even then we told the Ukrainian authorities about what I'm talking now, that even the adoption of the laws at the last moment is not enough. We, the mission, parliament, member states, and the commission must assess Ukraine, and the assessment will take weeks. That's why then and now I'm saying: Ukraine has until the end of summer if it wants to sign Association Agreement in Vilnius. If it's late, then we'll have extra plan regarding implementation of the conditions. Everything depends on Ukraine. The adoption of the legislation depends on your parliament alone," the official said.
