Nine people in intensive care after Stirol ammonia blowout

Nine residents of Horlivka are still in intensive care unit following the August 6 ammonia blowout at Stirol Concern's plant in Donetsk region, Head of the Civil Defense Department Oleksandr Pavelko has said.

"Pavelko said that around a hundred people were in the shop during the incident. Nine residents of Horlivka are in intensive care unit, some 20 employees of the enterprise asked for medical treatment," reads a report on the official Web site of the city.

As reported, there was an ammonia blowout during overhauls at the No. 1 Plant of PJSC Stirol Concern on August 6. Five people were killed and around 20 people were injured in the accident.

According to preliminary findings, a gas leak occurred due to an ammonia pipeline failure.
