Ukraine's Stirol suspending production due to security threats

1 min read

JSC Concern Stirol, which is located in Horlivka (Donetsk region) and is part of Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash's Group DF, is suspending large-scale production due to the critical situation in the region and threats to security, the company's press service said in a statement.

"The production of ammonia and its derivatives - urea, ammonium nitrate and urea-ammonium nitrate - have been suspended. The ammonia reservoir has been completely emptied, [and] all of the ammonia has been used," the statement says.

"In these troubled times, a suspension in production at Stirol eliminates all risks for the concern's employees and residents of the region," the press service said.

Additionally, Stirol personnel will work full-time on diagnostics and repairs, and the company is intensifying the work of the training center. During this time, employee wages will be paid in full, and no one will be laid off, the company said, adding that the working week is not being changed.

Stirol is one of Ukraine's biggest chemical producers. Ostchem coordinates the strategy of six fertilizer companies belonging to Group DF, four of which are located in Ukraine: Stirol Concern, Severodonetsk Azot, Cherkasy Azot and Rivneazot.
