Social bread prices in Kiev region not to grow within three years, Prysiazhniuk says

The prices of the cheapest types of bread in Kyiv region will not grow within the next three years, Head of Kyiv Regional State Administration Anatoliy Prysiazhniuk said during the opening of a new bread-making complex in Vasylkiv region.

According to the region's head, the regional leadership agreed this initiative before the starting of the building of the bread plant, signing a corresponding memorandum on cooperation with investors, the press service of the Kyiv regional state administration reported.

"Today a number of bakeries include 40% in administrative expenses in the cost of their bread, while at this enterprise administrative expenses total less than 8% - the lowest indicator in Ukraine. It means that as a final result we can guarantee people price stability on social kinds of bakery products, top-priority staple food," he said.

The implementation of the project for the construction of Kyiv's regional baking complex attracted $60 million in investment to Kyiv region. Over 6,000 jobs are to be created in the production chain. It will have over 500 24-hour bakeries that will supply even the most remote residential areas of the region with fresh bread.

"The opening of the baking complex - Ukraine's first, and the biggest in Europe - will aid in the implementation of the program for ensuring the food security of Ukraine, and will satisfy the needs of people in Kyiv and Kyiv region for high quality bread at affordable prices. The fulfillment of this project is a good example of state and private partnership being a key mechanism for the modernization of the economy, settling important social and economic problems, and of cooperation between the state and business," he said.
