The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine has stated that Ukraine's declaration of its non-aligned status has proved itself in the sphere of foreign relations.

"The declaration of a non-aligned status has proved itself. The policy of dividing into opposing military and political blocs has no influence on our relations with Russia anymore," Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko said while opening the 11th conference of the heads of Ukrainian diplomatic mission abroad in Kyiv on Tuesday.

At the same time, Hryschenko said that Ukraine supports active cooperation with NATO, despite its non-aligned status.

He added that Ukraine is building its cooperation with Russia based on partnership.

"We should focus on the practical essence of partnership and, of course, on the settlement of problems," the minister said.

Hryschenko also said that Kyiv pays special attention to integration processes with the CIS.

"We're watching attentively the transformation of the Customs Union and the Common Economic Space into the Eurasian Economic Community," Hryschenko said.

The minister also noted that Ukraine is actively working to improve trade relations with Russia and other members of the Customs Union.
