KCBW cuts output of freight wagons by 54.7% in 2014

The Kremenchuk-based Kriukov Car Building Works, or KCBW, in Poltava region reduced production of freight wagons by 54.7% in 2014 from 2013, to 2,406 units, according to the company.

At the same time, KCBW manufactured only one passenger carriage, while 74 passenger carriages were produced in 2013. The plant also retrofitted 95 subway carriages for Kyiv Metropoliten.

The enterprise has been standing idle since January 2015. It is to start work on January 19, 2015.

In 2013, the plant reduced production of freight wagons by 51% from 2012, to 5,316 units, while the output of passenger carriages grew by 7.2%, to 74 units.

The Kriukov plant, which is the CIS's only manufacturer of both passenger carriages and freight wagons, puts out freight wagons (open wagons, tankers, hopper wagons, and high-sided wagons), as well as passenger carriages, bogies for freight wagons, wheel pairs, and spare parts for subway carriages, escalators, containers, and road equipment.

Its products are exported to over 20 countries.
