VS Energy Group has agreed with U.S. AES Сorporation on the acquisition of an 89.12% stake in AES-Kyivoblenergo and an 84.56% stake in AES-Rivneenergo, a source on the market has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"VS Energy is buying two private regional electricity supply companies… The U.S. company is hurrying away from the market," he said.

As reported, VS Energy holds stakes of around 95% in Kirovohradoblenergo, Khersonoblenergo, Zhytomyroblenergo, and Sevastopolenergo.

VS Energy also holds about 70% of the stocks in Chernivtsioblenergo, about 50% of the stocks in Odesaoblenergo, and about 15-20% in Khmelnytskoblenergo and Mykolaivoblenergo. Earlier VS Energy sold a controlling stake in Zakarpattiaoblenergo.

The beneficiaries of VS Energy International are several Russian businessmen, including Alexander Babakov.

U.S. company AES Washington Holdings B.V. (part of the AES Сorporation) bought 75 plus one share stakes in Kyivoblenergo and Rivneenergo each at a privatization tender in 2001.

Later AES Сorporation built up an 89.12% stake in Kyivoblenergo and an 84.56% stake in Rivneenergo.

AES-Kyivoblenergo and AES-Rivneenergo run power lines located on the territory of the corresponding regions and supply power to the region's consumers.
