VS Energy not to participate in privatization of regional power supply companies

VS Energy Group would not take part in the privatization of power supply companies left under control of the state, Head of the State Property Fund of Ukraine (SPF) Ihor Bilous said in an interview with the Ekonomichna Pravda publication.

He said that this is linked to the fact that Russian citizens are among beneficiaries of the group and the group does not want to expand its assets in the Ukrainian power sector.

"This means that they would not go. We will stop them at the qualification. VS Energy would not go for sure. Believe me, I know. They have enough assets. They would not buy regional electricity supply companies. I have not heard any signal from them. I think that they are mulling the sale [of their assets]," he said.

Bilous said that amendments to the law on the privatization outlined in bill No. 2319a-d would not allow companies and individuals affiliated with aggressor states towards Ukraine to participate in the privatization.

He also expressed doubt that Konstantin Grigorishin who could be interested in getting control over Cherkasyoblenergo will take part in the privatization.

He said that he will oppose the participation of the co-owner of Togliattiazot Vladimir Makhlai in the privatization of Odesa Port-Side Plant.

As reported, VS Energy has control in Kyivoblenergo, Rivneoblenergo, Khersonoblenergo, Kirovohradoblenergo, Zhytomyroblenergo, Odesaoblenergo, Chernivtsioblenergo, Sevastopolenergo, and the group holds a stake in Mykolaivoblenergo and Khmelnytskoblenergo.

Beneficiaries of VS Energy are several Russian businessmen, including it is affiliated with Alexander Babakov, a member of the Russian Duma.
