Kyivoblenergo board chairman bludgeoned to death in Bilohorodka

On Sunday, September 24, around 20:00 in the village of B ilohorodka in Kyiv's Kyivo-Sviatoshynsky district assailants attacked the house belonging to the the JSC Kyivenergo board chairman. They bludgeoned the owner of the house and his wife, killing the former.

"It has been established that a group of men snuck through the fence to the yard of the victim. The assailants attacked the owner, dragged him into the house and tied him and his wife up. They then beat the pair, demanding they disclose the whereabouts of a safe. Not receiving this information, they stole UAH 15,000 from the house, a gold ring from the woman, and dragged the man into another room, where he was later found dead by police," the National Police of Ukraine's Kyiv region office said on Monday.

The police said after the woman freed herself she called police and emergency medical services. Police from the Kyivo-Sviatoshynsky department arrived along with detectives from the main investigative department, a police dog unit and a forensic team.

Kyiv region's police chief Dmytro Tsenov said police and the units gathered evidence at the site.

"Information collected indicates the assailants did not intend to kill the man, but were seeking to steal valuables. They took antiques and a small amount of money," Tsenov said.

The corpse of the man was sent for examination to determine cause of death. A criminal investigation pursuant to Point 6 of Part 2 of Article 115 (premeditated murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been opened.

Kyivenergo's website posted a message saying, "Yesterday, the chairman of Kyivoblenergo Ivan Oleksiivych Polyviany died tragically."
