Ukrposhta resumes parcel, small package deliveries to Canada
JSC Ukrposhta resumed parcel deliveries to Canada starting December 19, as reported by the company's press service on Tuesday.
To offset losses incurred by Ukrainian businesses that were unable to send items to Canada for a month, Ukrposhta is offering a week-long discount from December 23 to December 31, 2024. During this promotional period, tariffs for PRIME small packages (up to 2 kg) and EMS (Express Mail Service – parcels up to 30 kg) will be reduced by an average of 20%.
According to the company's website, the cost of PRIME small package delivery to Canada during the promotion will start at UAH 250, while EMS delivery rates will start at UAH 600. Customers can access the discount by processing their shipments via their personal accounts, API integration, or the mobile app.
"We are resuming the acceptance of international mail to Canada starting December 19. Canada Post has informed us that it will begin accepting all international mail. However, customers should expect delays as Canada Post processes accumulated mail and stabilizes operations," Ukrposhta stated. The company emphasized its understanding of the challenges faced by entrepreneurs whose activities were impacted by the temporary suspension of deliveries to Canada.
The month-long strike in Canada ended on December 17, 2024, involving over 55,000 postal workers demanding higher wages, improved pension plans, and better medical benefits.
Ukrposhta reminded customers that the shipping tariff to Canada will be calculated based on the actual weight of the parcel.
Additionally, starting January 1, 2025, Ukrposhta will transition to new tariff plans for domestic shipments, calculating costs based on volumetric dimensions rather than weight.
