Ukrainian athletes pick up 7 medals on first day of Winter Paralympics in Beijing
Ukrainian athletes won seven medals on the first day of the Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing.
"Seven medals were brought to Ukraine by the first day of the Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing. All of them were obtained in different classes of biathlon sprint races. The entire podium for men's vision impaired came out in blue-yellow colors," the National Olympic Committee said in a statement.
In particular, the gold went to Vitaliy Lukyanenko (class B3, guide Babar), silver – Oleksandr Kazik (class B1, guide Kucheriavy), bronze – Dmytro Suyarko (class B2, guide Nikonovych)
Hryhoriy Volchynsky (class LW8) and Oksana Shyshkova (class B2, Marchenko guide) also became the champions of Paralympics 2022.
In addition, Taras Rad (class LW12) and Liudmyla Liashenko (class LW8) picked up silver medals.
At the moment, Ukraine takes first place in the medal ranking.
