Ukraine defeats Slovakia in friendly match

Ukraine's national football team has defeated Slovakia 2-1 in a friendly match.

The game was played at the Arena Lviv stadium in Lviv on November 10.

Slovak defender Lukas Stetina scored the opener in the ninth minute, but Ukraine striker Andriy Yarmolenko equalized at the end of the first half. A goal from Yevhen Konoplyanka in the 54th minute secured Ukraine a 2-1 victory.

Slovakia and Ukraine could not advance to the 2018 World Cup finals in Russia. Slovakia became the worst team among those that took second place in their qualifying groups, whereas Ukraine finished third in its group.
