Ukrainian powerlifting athlete wins gold at Invictus Games in Canada
Ukrainian athlete Vasyl Pashkevych has won a gold medal in the men's middleweight powerlifting event at the Invictus Games, an international competition taking place this year in Toronto (Canada).
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko congratulated the athlete on his victory in the competition.
"I sincerely congratulate our powerlifting athlete Vasyl Pashkevych who has just got the second gold medal for the Ukrainian team at the Invictus Games. An amazing performance. We are proud of you," he wrote on his Facebook page on September 26.
Pashkevych showed the best result in three lifts (160, 171 and 175 kilograms).
