Oleksandr Usyk defends his heavyweight world title against Mchunu
Ukrainian WBO cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk has defended his champion title in the fight for the world title in the heavyweight division, which was held in the U.S. on December 17.
"Congratulations to Oleksandr Usyk on the successful debut in the U.S. and the defending of the world title!" Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page.
On the night from December 17 to December 18, the U.S. Inglewood (a suburb of Los Angeles, California) hosted a boxing championship for a world title in the heavyweight division (up to 90.7 kg) for the World Boxing Organization (WBO). The ring was mounted by owner of the champion belt Oleksandr Usyk (Ukraine) and contender for the title Thabiso Mchunu (South Africa).
Usyk has defeated the South African by the technical knockout in the ninth round of the fight.
