Ukrainian sportsmen to get UAH 25,000 for gold medals at European Games, UAH 20,000 – for silver, UAH 12,500 – for bronze
Ukrainian sportsmen will receive state monetary rewards worth UAH 25,000 for gold medals at the European Games in Baku, UAH 20,000 – for silver medals and UAH 12,500 – for bonze, Ukrainian Sports and Youth Minister Ihor Zhdanov has said.
"We're expecting 12 gold medals. Athletes in almost all sports that went to Baku are our Olympic hope for the victory in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. However, junior [sportsmen] will be also able to assert themselves," he wrote on his Facebook page on Saturday.
The first European Games are being held through June 12-28, 2015 in Baku. Ukraine is represented by 243 athletes in 19 out of 20 sports.
