Shakhtar signs new five-year contract with Brazilian player Teixeira

FC Shakhtar Donetsk has signed a new, five-year contract with Brazilian midfielder Alex Teixeira, reads a statement posted on the club's official Web site on Monday.

The 23-year-old moved to Shakhtar in December 2009 for EUR 6 million from Brazil's Vasco da Gama.

Teixeira scored 22 goals in 83 Ukrainian Premier League matches, eight goals in 14 Ukrainian Cup matches, and two goals in 21 Champions League games.

With Shakhtar, he won the Ukrainian Premier League in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 and the Ukrainian Cup in 2011, 2012 and 2013.
