Shakhtar's Fernandinho moves to Manchester City for EUR 40 million
FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho has moved to England's Manchester City for EUR 40 million.
"On June 6, FC Shakhtar and Manchester City reached an agreement on the transfer of Shakhtar midfielder Fernandinho to the English club. Manchester City paid 40 million euros for the transfer of the Brazilian," the press service of the Ukrainian club reported.
28-year-old Fernandinho moved to Shakhtar in July 2005. At that time, Director General of FC Shakhtar Serhiy Palkin said that the club had signed a five-year contract with a midfielder of Brazilian club Atletico Paranaense and that the transfer fee had amounted to EUR 7.8 million.
While playing for Shakhtar, Fernandinho won the Ukrainian Premier League six times and the Ukrainian Cup four times. In 2009, he won the UEFA Cup.
