Molod Poltava-based team wins in final of first stage of Street Football Championship

The final of the first stage of the Ukrainian Street Football Championship held under "A Million for a Stadium" project ended in Kyiv. The winner of the tournament was the Molod team from Poltava. The Cascade team from Kyiv region and the team of the Suvorov district of Odesa were second and third respectively, writed the official website of the SPU.

"Football is peace, football is health, football is friendship, and football is a way of life. We have conducted the first stage of the championship in rather short time. It was not a marathon, but a sprint race. And today here, in Kyiv, the best gathered to determine the winner of the first stage. No matter who would win, all the teams participating in the finals are the best of the best. Today there will not be losers. During this period, we all have become better, stronger and goal-oriented," Head of the Socialist Party of Ukraine and President of the Ukrainian National Federation of Street Football Illia Kyva said at the opening of the tournament.

Kyva also thanked everyone who was involved in the organization and holding of the championship.

"This tournament was organized by different structures: the Ukrainian National Federation of Street Football, the Football Federation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Education. The national police, it would seem to be a supervising authority, but also joined the organization of the championship. Thank you all! And believe me we all pursued one goal - that the faces of the children have more smiles and see more children's joy," he said.

Along with the winners and prize-winners, the Blyskavka team from Chernihiv region, Sartana from Donetsk region, Severodonetsk from Luhansk region, Gymnasium 86 from Kharkiv region and Legion 21 from Zhytomyr region also took part in the tournament. All participants of the tournament received memorable prizes - footballs, as well as certificates of honor and tickets for the Champions League final among women. The prize-winners were awarded with medals and the winner with a cup.

The Ukrainian Street Football Championship for teenagers born in 2003-2006 under "A Million for a Stadium" project began on April 14 in Poltava. It is organized by the Ukrainian National Federation of Street Football and the Football Federation of Ukraine with the support of the Juvenile Justice Department of the National Police of Ukraine. The second stage of the championship starts on August 23, the Day of the Ukrainian Flag. Its winner will receive UAH 1 million for the arrangement of a stadium in their city.
