World prices for the mentioned products have already shown its great dependence on the segment of South America soybeans in 2011/12. Almost all commodities faced long-lasting price rally following the constant downward revision of the soybean harvest in Argentina and Brazil after the worst drought in last years. Herewith, the USA exporters “ring the bell” as their major importer China “came” back to their origin. Turkey seems to increase its appetite for US soybeans in 2012/13 MY. The wind of change breezed over the heads of Turkish feed importers with updates coming in the sphere of Biosafety Law.
Herewith, palm oil sector also faced difficulties. Here we talk about the pressure of Indonesian tax system which has already left its influence not only on Malaysian market, but also on Indian and Chinese. Lower Indonesian tax for exports of refined palm oil fueled the shipments of the commodity from the country and made Malaysian crude palm oil less attractive. Operators are really concerned about the local palm oil refining industry. Moreover, world analysts are already emphasized the fact that the year-on-year growth of palm oil production in Malaysia and Indonesia is forecast to calm down in 2012.
The situation in the European rapeseed segment is also very complex in 2012. Some price pressure is expected to come as the EU biodiesel industry lowers its consumption of rapeseed oil. All hopes are turned to the expected increase of rapeseed production in Canada in 2012/13 MY.
Will the record world sunflower harvest of 39 million tonnes save the tight world balance in 2011/12 MY? Which supplier will get the most market share? Ukrainian sunflower oil has already faced strong competition from the side of Russia. Herewith, Argentina is trying to keep its place of the second largest exporter of sunflower oil widening the discount of its commodity vis-a-vis the Black Sea products.
