Our Ukraine congress may dismiss Yuschenko as party's leader, says expert

Kyiv, March 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) - President of the Ukrainian analytical center Open Policy, Ihor Zhdanov, does not rule out that the congress of the Our Ukraine People's Union party may make Viktor Yuschenko step down as the party leader.

"We will see that a group of members of the party will be trying to realize the project Our Ukraine without Viktor Yuschenko," Zhdanov said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.

The expert said he believes the party "has been slowly dying" since Yuschenko's election as its leader.

Our Ukraine is having serious problems with finances to support the party's administration, said Zhdanov.

"Everyone understands that Our Ukraine has no prospects, and that is largely due to politics. Probably none of Viktor Yuschenko's comrades see him as a person who could be re-elected for a second term," said the expert.

Yuschenko is an honored chairman of the party Our Ukraine, which was registered in spring 2005. The official leader of the party is Viacheslav Kyrylenko.
