Experts say Ukraine will get second tranche of IMF loan
Kyiv, March 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Ukrainian experts forecast that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will provide Ukraine with the second tranche of its stand-by loan, Ihor Zhdanov, a political scientist, and president of the Open Policy analytical center, said at a press conference in Interfax-Ukraine.
"I think we will receive the second tranche from the IMF anyway. The situation is paradoxical, as the IMF is doing all it can to give the money to the country, as they understand that an unstable Ukraine is not profitable for them, as this instability could spread over Europe," he said.
At the same time he said "that over the whole of last week the leadership of the country made every effort to shift accents and make the way a correct and good a letter to the IMF should be written a more important issue than the fact of receiving the money."
Zhdanov also forecast that soon consensus between Ukraine's Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, President Viktor Yuschenko and National Bank Governor Volodymyr Stelmakh would be achieved.
