Nestle posts 23% rise in sales in Ukraine in 2011

Kyiv, February 16 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Switzerland's Nestle in 2011 increased sales in Ukraine by 23%, to UAH 4.66 billion.

"In 2011 we managed to achieve the best business growth results of all Nestle markets in Europe," Managing Director at Nestle in Ukraine and Moldova Maurizio Patarnello said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

Sales in the culinary products market grew by 25%, to UAH 1.71 billion, that for beverages – by 18%, to UAH 1.27 billion, and for confectionaries – by 32%, to UAH 851 million.

Nestle also said that Nestle Professional division (the catering segment) increased sales by 15%, and with 18,500 coffee vending machines is a leader on the market of vending machines.

Sales of baby food and special foods were up by 19% in 2011, sales of quick-prep breakfasts rose by 1% and those for pet food (Nestle Purina) grew by 19%, read materials released at the press conference.

According to the materials, the company last year invested some UAH 126 million in the upgrading and expansion of its production facilities in Ukraine.

Nestle has been operating in Ukraine since 1994. Nestle in Ukraine consists of Lviv-based CJSC Svitoch confectionery factory, Nestle Ukraine Ltd., OJSC Volynholding (the Torchyn brand), and Technocom Ltd. (the Mivina trademark).

Nestle promotes international brands such as Nescafe, Nesquik, Maggi, Nuts, Friskies, KitKat, Nuts, etc.

Nestle's business in Ukraine encompasses coffee and beverages, confectionery goods, condiments (sauces, herbs, spices, and soups), food for children and special foods, quick-prep breakfasts, pet food, and ice cream.
