Trade house of Karl Marx Kyiv confectionery submits appeal to court against O'KEY-Ukraine
Kyiv, March 4 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The trade house of Karl Marx Kyiv confectionery, part of Roshen Corporation, has submitted an appeal to court against O'KEY-Ukraine Company (all based in Kyiv) to levy UAH 250,000 of debt from the retail chain.
Roshen President Vyacheslav Moskalevsky said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday that a court ruling on the case is expected soon.
"We'll have an experience with law-enforcement officers with [O'KEY-Ukraine company], taking money by shampoo or green peas or something else. Actually, we foresaw these options. Currently everyone is in bad situation. There're no exceptions," he said.
Moskalevsky said that a number of retail chains have certain debts to the corporation. This did not impact the company's policy towards the realization of its products through retailers.
"We work with supermarkets as we did before. We know that they have problems. We don't know how they would settle these problems. But if we don’t sell products to supermarkets today, we'll have problems earlier than they would have," he said.
Roshen has confectionary plants in Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Mariupol, Kremenchuk, the Bershadmoloko dairy plant, and confectionary plants in Lipetsk (Russia) and Klaipeda (Lithuania). Roshen exports products to Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Moldova, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, the United States, Canada, Germany, Israel and other countries.
Its production increased by 3% to 360,000 tonnes in 2008, and its sales rose by 31%, to over $850 million.
