Ukrtelecom to hold first stage of auction to sell mobile phone business in late August, early September
Kyiv, August 10 (Interfax-Ukraine) – Public joint-stock company Ukrtelecom is planning to hold the first stage of an auction to sell its mobile communications business in late August or early September.
"In late August or early September we'll hold the first stage of an open auction [to sell the mobile communications business]," Board Chairman of public joint-stock company Ukrtelecom, Heorhiy Dzekon, said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine, when asked about the company's plans to sell its mobile communications business.
He said that currently the operator has signed an agreement with Akira Partners financial consultant, which is looking for buyers for the Ukrtelecom's asset.
He said that at present six or seven applications have been received.
Dzekon said that both Ukrainian mobile operators and European operators interested in entering the Ukrainian market have shown interest in buying the asset.
He also said that the documents on the mobile communications business were sent to the State Property Fund of Ukraine and in the near future Ukrtelecom expects to obtain a permit to sell the asset.
As reported, on June 14 Ukrtelecom's shareholders decided to sell mobile communications business.
Earlier analysts said that the value of Ukrtelecom's mobile communications business was some UAH 2-3 billion.
