Health Ministry drafts law on including condoms, diapers on list of nontaxable medicines

Kyiv, August 8 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The Health Ministry of Ukraine has prepared a draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on including certain items, in particular, condoms and diapers, on the list of nontaxable medicines, Health Minister Oleksandr Anischenko has said.

"Yesterday we started making the list, including that on dentistry [items], condoms, diapers, and baby bottle teats," he said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine.

The minister said that the earlier tax on these goods had been "imposed foolishly."

According to the minister, the draft resolution will be submitted to the cabinet for consideration on Monday or Wednesday.

Commenting on the current shortage of these goods, in particular, diapers and condoms, as well as the increase in their prices, the minister said that these things were liable to customs duties. Therefore everything mentioned above does not apply to those medicines that were imported to the country before the current resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers came into force.
