Russian-Ukrainian 'A Bridge of Friendship' Festival to be held in Kerch in spring
Kyiv, November 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) - A Russian-Ukrainian musical festival, entitled "A Bridge of Friendship” will be held in May 2011 in Kerch, Director General of the Gosconcert Federal State Unitary Enterprise (Moscow), Alexander Krauter, has said.
"The festival will be held on outdoor performance stages in Kerch in May," he said at a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine news agency in Kyiv on Thursday.
The organizers plan to attract Ukrainian and Russian artists, symphony orchestras, and folk bands to perform at the festival.
Krauter said he hopes that the festival will become an international event and will be held annually.
President of the Ukrainian League of Authors Ihor Kuryliv said at the press conference that the aim of the project is to attract the attention of the public to the construction of a bridge across the Kerch Straight.
Kuryliv and Krauter said they are sure that the construction of the bridge will promote not only economic and political cooperation between Ukraine and Russia, but the cultural unity of the two peoples as well.
