MEP Siwiec: European Parliament not to consider situation in Ukraine concerning Tax Code
Kyiv, November 26 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The European Parliament will most likely not consider the situation in Ukraine concerning the adoption of the Tax Code, MEP Marek Siwiec has predicted.
"The European Parliament is a very plenipotentiary institution, and we remember Ukraine almost every week. At the same time, I do not think there will be big debate on the Tax Code. I hope that the discussion will be more professional, rather than political. There will be more economics than politics," he said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on Friday.
Siwiec said that the European Parliament didn't really understand the essence of the conflict around the adoption of the Tax Code in Ukraine.
"We're following statements by Ukrainian officials, from which it is clear that it [the Tax Code] will be positive for the country's economy," he said.
"It's not clear to me why, when the government wants to do something good for its citizens, people do not like it. There's something wrong here," the MEP said.
