Deere & Company to increase number of distributors in Ukraine

Kyiv, September 13 (Interfax-Ukraine) – U.S. based Deere & Company (the John Deere trademark), one of the world's largest farming equipment manufacturers, is to increase the number of its official dealers in Ukraine from four to five or six, Peter Krimm, the head of John Deere Ukraine Ltd. said at a press conference at Interfax-Ukraine on September 10.

"There is market demand," he said, explaining the decision to expand the dealer network.

Krimm noted that his company had only one exclusive dealer up until 2008, when the company changed its sales policy.

He did not disclose Deere & Company's sales in Ukraine, yet, he said that the market is seeing recovery after a drastic decline in 2009.

"We're seeing the process of recovery in 2010 and have returned to the level of 2007," he said.

The best sales year in the CIS and Ukraine in the company's history was 2008, he added.

He said that with the commissioning of a new plant in Domodedovo in Russia, Deere & Company also expects to expand its presence in Ukraine, in particular, due to improved servicing in Ukraine.
